A temporary vendor can be added in Dynamics in two ways.

1. The first is through transaction entry either by Payables Transaction Entry (Transactions - Purchasing - Transaction Entry), Payables Manual Payment Entry (Transactions - Purchasing - Manual Payments), or Edit Payables Checks (Transactions - Purchasing - Edit Checks). When you select the Vendor ID field, immediately select Temporary Vendor from the Options menu item on the menu bar. The next default temporary ID will be used. You can then continue entering information in the Vendor Maintenance window, save your changes, and go back to transaction entry to complete the process. The next temporary ID numbers are maintained in Payables Setup Options (Setup - Purchasing - Payables - Options).

2. You can also add a temporary vendor in the Vendor Maintenance window (Cards - Purchasing - Vendor). In this window, you actually give the temporary vendor a name. The next temporary vendor ID will not default in this window. Make sure you choose Temporary for the vendor status. After you save this vendor, it can then be pulled up in the Payables Transaction Entry, Payables Manual Payment Entry, or Edit Payables Checks window to use for a transaction.
